(Think of what God can do and the impact He has on our lives. Anyone who takes a breath can surrender and accept Jesus in their heart.)
If we pray for all people we open the door for change. And when the Holy Spirit steps in and leads us our change is marked by action. Prayer is for all people. Not just people we like and know so let’s up our prayer time and add prayer for acceptance and changed lives. In 1 Thessalonians 3:12 says, “And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows.”
In 1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 2 the words Peaceful and quiet stood out to me and made me think how (Our prayers should be for people to see the love of Christ who is the only Mediator to bring us back home.)
a. Peaceful =refers to a calm attitude within us that shows Christ-like behavior in all situation.
b. Quiet = is the circumstances around us. When we seek wisdom from God the circumstances around us feel quiet.
In 1 Timothy chapter 2 verse 3 it states that “This is good and pleases God our Savior.” We must live our lives to please God before anything or anyone. (If we live this way people will see Christ and the Kingdom will be impacted.) Romans 14:17-18 says, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.” Our pleasing God makes us better HUSBANDS, WIVES, PARENTS and PEOPLE in the community. (This is what makes the truth spread and change happens.)
In Verses 4-5 it tells us that “God wants all to be saved and understand truth.” And that truth is Jesus as His own words tell us in John 14:6 “Jesus told him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
*Think on these question all week and see what the Spirit shows us.
Why is our prayer for all so important?
Who can we pray for that is last on our minds?
Quote by Warren Wiersbe “One way to think about the sequence of development that we experience in the Christian life is that we begin as “Timothy’s,” with the goal of growing toward “Paul-like” maturity.” And I would add Christ-like submission to the Father. Amen
