We see here the incredible heart and love from Jesus to the Father. It’s not about doing it on His own; it’s about doing something because it is right and glorifying to the Father. Sometimes physically or mentally we can do something that seems right and may get us through a situation but we are called to obey and show our love. Jesus is showing us when we surrender and open our heart and let the Spirit lead us He will guide us to what the Father wants and then we can show our love for Him.
This world is flooded with desires that we think we need, but when we listen to God we are focused on that alone. Look at verse 21 which says, “Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” We must desire to show our love and be willing to learn and grow so we can know God’s will for us and obey.
Jesus says it again in verse 23, “…All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.” The more we focus on changing our lives to be like Christ the more we surrender and follow the Spirit and the more we obey. Let’s make a practice of surrendering and devoting ourselves to obedience. Amen
