John is surrendering control and joyfully giving it to Jesus. He knew this from the beginning and stayed true to his purpose and calling. When we can open our hearts and let the Spirit change and develop us we will let go of the struggles we fight with our flesh. Look at what Jesus shares in John chapter 3 verse 6, “Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to Spiritual life.” We must seek that life given to us by the Spirit. He will lead us and guide us when we are willing to listen. As we grow and change our ways we develop and what we care about changes.
The Spirit fills us and we desire more and more wisdom from the Lord. In John chapter 3 verse 31 it says, “He has come from above and is greater than anyone else. We are of earth, and we speak of earthly things, but He has come from heaven and is greater than anyone else.” When we open up to these truths we will seek things that come from Him and when we are seeking we will find because the Word says so. I love the fact that God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son for us, but I also love the fact that Jesus loved the Father so much that He only did what He told Him and surrendered His power to live like we do in the flesh.
When we accept Him and claim it we must be willing to learn and surrender. I want to finish with John chapter 3 verse 36 and then a prayer. “And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.” Dear Father thank you for your love and your Son, please help me open my heart to be new in Christ and always be focused on you and not myself. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen
