After reading this today you can see how important surrender is. We cannot do anything to earn salvation, all we have to do is surrender and let God change our hearts. When we accept Jesus and are baptized we receive the Holy Spirit and He will guide us to do what is right. When we think we have everything under control our earthly desires keep us from seeing what we need to see. It’s not about just following the law it’s about living as Christ did, fully devoted and willing not to act unless the Father told Him. We are called to do the same, but if we don’t listen to the Spirit’s direction and we think we can do it on our own we will be spinning in the same mud of life. What worldly things are keeping you spinning in the mud?
We see in the parable of the rich man that his possessions were keeping him from a true relationship with God. It might not be possessions for us, but we need to pray and ask God to show us what we need to release so we can grow and mature in our walk. In chapters 18 and 19 Jesus talks about becoming like children if you want to see the Kingdom of Heaven and I feel this is because not only are they innocent but they need someone to guide them and Jesus shows us to be real and need Him. When we need Him we will ask Him but when we feel we can do it on our own we spin our wheels. Let’s all work on our willingness to surrender our will and know that His will is perfect so no other way is right. Thank you God for your love, keep me focused on Jesus and help me be childlike. Amen
