Matthew 7:24 "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock."
This is so important as we work on growing and maturing our relationship with the Lord. Jesus is telling us we just can't sit there and listen to His teachings we have to follow what He is teaching.
Verse 26 says, "But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand."
Are we understanding this? We have to put into action what we are learning from God's word. It is not OK to go to church and not change how we live, turning from our old ways and being Christ-like. It is not OK to ignore what we are learning in the Bible, we need to be actively seeking how to be different. If going to church is enough for us, we need to ask why? If we are not giving or serving people we need to ask ourselves why? And if we are comfortable and not challenged to be a light we need to ask why?
Matthew 7:7 says, "Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."
We can't think because we know Jesus Christ that is good enough to make us fully devoted followers. He asks us to be like Him and be different from the world. Here are a few more scriptures I want to take a look at and pray about.
Matthew 7:14 which says, "But the gateway to life is VERY narrow and the road is DIFFICULT, and only a few ever find it." Now look at Matthew 7:22-23, which say, "On judgment day many will say to Me, 'Lord, Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.' But I will reply, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God's laws.'
We are called to be servants just like Christ and be people who work hard to show that we love Him as He loves the Father. There is so much more God wants us to find out, are we willing to get on the difficult road and love God above all else and then love others as ourselves? Amen
