"So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.”
When I was reading today this stood out to me and made me think, we as leaders need to make sure when we share it is connected to God's word. We don't need to be fancy or add to what God has shown us, we just need to teach His word with boldness.
In the next verse we get a taste of what Jesus means as He shares; chapter 7 verse 18, “Those who speak for themselves want glory only for themselves, but a person who seeks to honor the one who sent him speaks truth, not lies.” Understanding the why we share God's word is important in keeping us focused. We share so the lost can hear the Good News, and to show love and truth, not condemnation shame. As we pray and prepare to live out His example we must always remember that the message is not our own, it is the Fathers and we are just a tool to water and plant seeds so people can hear and see the message of Jesus that will save their lives.
John 1:12-13 NLT
"But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.”
We have to grab this with our heart and understand we are His children bought at a high price. When we believe this and accept it our new lives can begin and who we thought we were we can let die. All the sin we were born into does not hold us anymore. We are know living as a new creation set apart and with power that comes from Christ. For us to understand this we need to not only believe it but accept it as truth. When we do we will start to change and that change will lead us to surrender our will and desire His. I love what it says in John chapter 1 verse 5, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” Our acceptance creates a light that cannot be extinguished, we just keep adding to the brightness as God shows us more love.
Amen
