We see a humble Lord doing something people would expect a servant to do and that is Jesus’ point. He said, “I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.” We must realize that as we grow in knowledge of the Lord and we understand the truth of the word it doesn’t make us better or someone who should be honored, it makes us more of a servant to live as Jesus did. God’s word is for us to learn and live and Jesus shows us how He lived it during His stay on earth.
When we realize that leadership is not power it is applied knowledge we will start doing our part to make disciples that don’t want to just hear the word but they will want to live the word out. We must not worry about what we are but who we are in Christ. This will humble each of us to do the things that Jesus did and when we are authentic and read about whom Jesus is we will shine and then people will seek Jesus for who He is. I love John chapter 14 verse 12 which says, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” We are here to carry out the great commission and be Christ-like as we do it. Our light that comes from Christ will impact people if it’s not about ourselves and what we have done but about Jesus and what He did for us.
In John chapter 14 verse 6 Jesus makes a bold statement and we must remember this as we seek to grow and make a difference. “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” This is why when He says “I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you,” He means it. How is our walk looking? Is it about us only or are we shining for others to see? I pray for myself to want to learn so I know and know so I grow and grow so I shine all that He has shown me. Keep on seeking and you will find, those are great words to remember because God is for us and wants us home. Amen
