As I read, this stood out and opened my eyes to how simply Jesus has laid out our focus. What I mean is, we need to not focus on the what, such as the worldly things that make us crazy: Money, jobs, homes, vehicles, etc., and focus on the who. When we seek or concentrate on knowing our Lord and Savior we find our Lord and Savior. When we find Him our hearts open to Him and we desire more of Him. The incredible part is the more we do this the more we change and the less we do it the harder it is for us to develop.
Our purpose as Christians is to Love God and love people and as we do that and have a relationship with Him we grow and we finish our purpose, which is what it says in Matthew chapter 28 verses 18-20, “Jesus came and told His disciples. ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
See if we worry about perishables we don’t get to the core of what is important. To know Jesus is to be like Him and to be like Him is what helps people see the light in the world and it shines and His characteristics are what show through us and make people want to know Him. If we only do the surface we only grow so much and we miss the understanding that brings the qualities of heaven to earth. Jesus’ prayer says, “On earth as it is in Heaven.”
Warren Wiersbe said it like this and it really sunk in as I read it. “As His servants, we are distributors, not manufactures. If we give what we have to Him, He will bless it and give it back to us for use in feeding others.” Wow, as we seek to understand we can make a difference watering and planting seeds to people, but if we just hear, we repel people by our hypocrisy and it is harder for people to grow. We all need to surrender and seek wisdom from the Lord and make every effort to keep our eyes on the prize so we can be just like Him. Amen
