This really stood out to me today and made me think how God’s love is for all and He only wants everyone to know His Son. He is not angry or plotting negative, He does things for us so we choose His Son. In service this past weekend the pastor said, “God always looks first to change us not our circumstances.” This is because He loves us (everyone) and wants our hearts to change. Look at 2 Peter chapter 3 verse 9 which says, “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people may think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
We must understand the more we relation with God and open His word the more we can do the things Jesus has shown us. This is important because we are not supposed to be satisfied with our walk if it only benefits us, we must be growing so we can be like Christ and help others find the narrow road. In Luke chapter 6 verse 39 Jesus says, “Then Jesus gave the following illustration: ‘Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch?” We all must seek wisdom from above so that we can plant and water seeds that don’t show hypocrisy but love.
In verse 40 Jesus goes on to say, “Students are not greater than their teachers. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.” Our goal should be nothing less than to be like the perfect example given to us by God. Our willingness to learn and grow helps us keep focused in all that we do and we understand as we grow it becomes less about us and more about Him. John the Baptist had this theory down for sure. In John chapter 3 verses 27-30 we see that John understands. “John replied, ‘No one can receive anything unless God gives it from Heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told you, I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for Him. It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with Him and hear His vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at His success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.” We need to open our hearts and be willing to live the way we see the bible showing us, and then we will be able to love our enemies and focus on right living. Amen
