This is Jesus talking to the people after His disciples couldn’t cast out a demon in a young boy. It really stood out to me because of the father comment of “help me overcome my unbelief.” Are we dealing with some unbelief or wonder when it comes to our walk? We really need to let go of all our fears and truly believe what we are shown in God’s word and what we feel with the Holy Spirit. When we let even the tiniest worry in it can explode sooner or later to make us wonder. It is so important to read and learn asking God for wisdom and then living it out just as Jesus did. Even going through the most difficult times Jesus stayed on course and was determined to do God’s will.
Look what Peter says in 1 Peter chapter 4 verses 1-2, “So then, since Christ suffered physical pain, you must arm yourselves with the attitude He had, and be ready to suffer, too. For if you have suffered physically for Christ, you have finished with sin. You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God.”
Think of that, there is no unbelief when you are willing to go through anything for God. No matter what the cost you will be anxious to do God’s will, which is for us to be just like His Son. When we die to self we can start to change our ways and our belief can turn into the action word that it is. And then our faith grows and we don’t desire anything and we truly become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
I love what Peter says in 1 Peter chapter 4 verse 7, “The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.”
Be disciplined in your walk and don’t let a single day go by when you are not putting God first and giving Him your best. Amen
