John 16

John 16:14 "He will bring me glory by telling you whatever He receives from me."

Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit and I love this because we see full surrender and devotion.  God sent His one and only Son so we can have eternal life through Him and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit so we will know the worlds sins and of Gods righteousness.  Look what Jesus says in John chapter 16 verse 7 "But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you." It is amazing what we have been given to understand, yet we struggle because we think we know better or our fleshly desires become what drive us.  When we are born again we are new creations, the old is gone.  We need to think of our lives as one led by Jesus and forgetting what we think feels good.  If we were in prayer and studied His word all the time we would hear the Holy Spirit who is guiding us into all truths.  But we think of ways to fit God in and use Him as a brick not the foundation.

Can we say, not my will be done?  We can when we are doing what it says in Ephesians chapter 6 verse 11, "Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil."  When we leave one part unprotected our feelings get in and so does our will.  Then we say; well I was born this way or it feels right.  Those are strategies of the devil and will always keep us making excuses of why we (ok) our actions even when His word shows us it is our flesh.  WE ARE BORN AGAIN! the excuse of we were born that way is garbage or rubbish.  Put on the full armor, pray and ask God for what you need and He will show you what that is.  Jesus did only what the Father said, the Holy Spirit only does what Jesus shows Him and we need to do the same by asking, seeking, and knocking.  We can't let our minds be our worse enemy, we need to renew them ALL the time.  Amen

1 John 3:6

1 John 3:6
"Anyone who continues to live in Him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know Him or understand who He is."

I like this verse and what it says because I never want to get caught up and use the grace God has given (Jesus on the cross dying and resurrecting) as an excuse to sin.  His grace is enough to change our hearts and keep us fixed on Him.  We are not slaves to sin, we are righteous because we choose to live in Him.  We can't live our lives okaying our sin, that will happen, we must renew our mind daily and say Jesus thank you for your love help me be like you today.  As you read more in 1 John I love what it says in verses 7-8, "Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil."

We might sin because we are not perfect but we don't make a practice of sinning or say "well I am just a sinner saved by grace."  We were sinners but our acceptance of Jesus Christ has given us a new birth and we are new creations, righteous just like Him.  Verse 9 says, "Those who have been born into God’s family do not make a practice of sinning, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they are children of God."  Don't let this world dictate who you are and don't let your new live be about excuses why we still mess up.  Believe in the one who died for all of us and freed us from the slavery of sin and this world. Romans chapter 12 verse 2 says, "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect."  It says you will learn to know God's will; you will forget yours.  His will is perfect and His will is that we know His Son.  We need to open His word everyday and let it transform us so we practice the things that please God not man.  Amen

Romans 8

Romans 8:5
"Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit."

Every time I read this it makes me thankful that God gave me the Spirit living in me to guide me.  Our minds will always be taking in what the world wants because this world is happening now, but we can fill our mind with the stuff that God has given us (His word and we can know that the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth so we can win the battle in our minds. Verse 6 says, "So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace." This is how we get through the difficult times, the sad time, and life in this world.  We study, pray, and worship God letting the Holy Spirit lead us and guide us to do the things He is showing us.  It says when the Spirit controls our mind we have life and peace; that is how we bring heaven to earth and live as a light.

When we look at these next verses we need to believe they are true, and let your lives show it.  Verses 12 and 13 say "Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live." I am not sure about you but I want to live and I want to know Jesus and have my life be different. At the times we think we can't handle things the Holy Spirit will give is the prayers we need to strengthen us, and we will respond out of trust and love for the Lord and the Spirit will guide us just as we need.  It says in Romans chapter 8 verse 26 "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words." He always has our back and we hear Him when we are listening.  When I was thrown from a horse last year, the Holy Spirit guided me in prayer and in how I should react while laying in the desert. The incredible thing is that we don't have to know what we need sometimes we just have to surrender and believe, and He will help with everything. I truly love this next verse in Romans chapter 8 verse 28 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." Let's all seek wisdom and let's give up control so we can let our sinful nature go and live as conquerors following His Spirit in us. Amen
