How amazing is this Psalm? Why do we let this world keep us struggling? It can not do anything to us; we are in our loaner bodies here and should be waiting with excitement to be home someday. David says; “…and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.” Have we surrendered to His will and died to self so we can truly be thankful for all Jesus did? Jesus dying on the cross was the help we needed and accepting that and being thankful is what keeps our feet from slipping. Having that relationship with Christ is what keeps us strong and focused on Him. We need to spend time asking and seeking wisdom that comes from the Lord so we can grow more confident and trusting in our walk in His presence. I would ask everyone to pray a prayer of thanks after reading this today and just stop and realize how Great our God is. Amen
Psalm 56:11-13 “I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help. For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping. So I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.”

Psalm 50:23 “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, will reveal to you the salvation of God.”
This seems so simple and really makes me want to focus on God. He has done so much to continually show His love by sending His son Jesus to take our sins. How can we not be thankful everyday no matter what is happening in our lives? Jesus has bridged the gap and is our way home to the Father, it is so important to continually learn from the bible (God’s word) so we can work on the path that leads to life. In Matthew 7:14 Jesus tells us, “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few will ever find it.” We need to be thankful and seek God’s wisdom everyday and then live out what the Spirit puts on our heart. Our changed lives and growing hearts are what God desires, and it keeps us focused on Christ who is our example for living on earth. Pray and be open to do God’s will and be thankful always for the free gift of salvation. Thanks to God for our Lord ands Savior Jesus Christ. Amen Psalm 34:4-5 “I prayed to the Lord, and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.”
It is something else to pray and believe that God hears you and is there. When we surrender and open our hearts to God we can truly learn and the Holy Spirit opens our heart and we transform. We can believe we are strong enough to endure but all of us need to forget our worldly strength and rely on the Lord to fill us. It says we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us, so why do we work so hard to help ourselves? Psalm 34:10 says, “Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” This does not say we will lack trouble or trials it means we can have the true joy and peace that comes from the Lord when we die to self. In verse 19 we see that it says, “The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time.” Where do we turn when we are in trouble? We need to open God’s word and fill our hearts with the wisdom and knowledge He has given to us so we can live on earth as it is in heaven. We need to remember that we need to be living in this world but glorifying God with our lives. I would like to close with Psalm 34:22 which says, “But the Lord will redeem those who serve Him. No one who takes refuge in Him will be condemned.” Amen Psalm 31:19 “How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.”
This verse just made me think of how amazing God is and what He did to show His love for us. When we truly realize what Jesus did for us we can truly open our hearts to God with reverent fear. Then we can surrender our will (what we think we desire) and focus on glorifying God with our actions. In 1 Samuel 2:1 Hannah prays this; “My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me.” Do we rejoice and give thanks to God for Him sending Jesus and rescuing us or do we forget and focus on the world? Hannah was rejoicing that the Lord would give her a son and then she dedicated him back to the Lord to serve Him. We need to rejoice daily for what the Lord has done and be thankful. Thankfulness is mostly shown by our actions not our lip service (My opinion). What are we doing to live out our faith and be a light to the world just as Jesus was? When we fear the Lord we focus on Him and wee seek him and a relationship is started. Hannah says in verse 2, “No one is Holy like the Lord! There is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.” Just think of this for a moment today, is God your “Rock” or are you trying it on your own? Pray this prayer, Thank you Father for being my rock and sending your Son to be my example. Please fill me with the Spirit and His strength so I can totally lean not on my own strength but look up and know you are there. Amen Psalm 18:30 “God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection.”
The key phrase in this scripture is “for all who look to Him…” Are we looking or are we waiting? The world and our lives can make us so busy that we feel we can’t look for anything. What we end up doing is asking but not really waiting or listening. We also need to seek and knock because that is where the transformation takes place in our hearts. God’s way is perfect, so what keeps us from fully committing to follow Christ? Verse 32 say, “God arms me with strength, and He makes my way perfect.” Are we turning to God for our strength our do we just want to handle everything on our own? The more we try to learn and grow the more we will face challenges and the more challenges we face the stronger we can become if our focus is on Him. I am a firm believer that filling ourselves daily with God’s word builds our hearts and mind to react as a light to the world and live in Christ strength not our own. This is a never ending journey that will take our full devotion no matter how much we grow and mature. If we don’t feel this way, we open the door for complacency. In Romans 12:11 it says, “Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.” How does that look in your life? Never be satisfied. Amen Psalm 1:1-3 “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night. They are like trees planted along the riverbed, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”
This is so amazing to think about because it is so true. When we are self learners our hearts are full and we are ready for anything that happens to us. The tree planted near the river bed never had to worry about water or the source of their nourishment, which is how it is when we are full of the Spirit. Good or bad things that happen don’t make us weary we are able to still be a light and be Christ like in character. We can still mourn but we are solid in our faith and we press forward to see how we can be used. I love Job’s first response to the loss of all his kids and livestock. In chapter 1 verse 21 he says, “I came naked from my mothers womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord.” He was sad and grieving but never blamed God, he praised Him. Giving God some time is good, but devoting to Him is when we really transform. Just think of anything you do; the more time you put in the easier and better it is. There is no difference with our walk with the Lord. As we mature it should be easier to live in obedience to what God show us in the word. We can truly transform to be Christ like as we are told needs to happen. Are the things that God desires from us always getting in the way of what we desire? Do we get frustrated every time the tuff topics are talked about or do we find ways to help people follow Christ? I want true peace that only comes from the Lord and totally surrendering to Him. Sometimes that means I don’t get what I want or I need to do something for someone else. We need to open our hearts and truly die to self. Amen Psalm 147:10-11 “He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might. No, the Lord’s delight is in those who fear Him, those who put their hope in His unfailing love.”
We need to live to honor and glorify Him. If we are working in our own strength we will never feel the joy and peace we are promised in God’s word. When we say, God your will be done, do we forget self and the world and live to do all we can to learn and grow to be like Christ? Or do we have no healthy fear of the Lord and just feel our actions and the way we live mean nothing? I like in 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 it says, “All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with His comfort through Christ.” This needs to be our desire and what keeps us wanting more in our life. We should seek all wisdom from the Lord so we can help others. We need to remember it is not about us alone, it is us being a light to people. Amen Psalm 145:17-18 “The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.”
This is so important as we call on Him for whatever, we must check our own walk as we live. Are we living a way that is glorifying to Him or are we living in the world but wanting Him to be there? This is so important because God can’t be in sin so when we truly call on Him in truth He is there but when we call on Him in our worldly living He is waiting for us. It says, “The Lord is righteous in everything He does…” so we must seek Him with the desire to learn and change to be one with Him. Jesus is our perfect example of living a way that always glorified the Father and He felt His presence always. But when He was on the cross and took our sins God separated from Him and that was the agony Jesus suffered in His preparation for the cross. We can’t live our way and expect God to be there approving it. We can’t say I want to dedicate my life to the Lord then do nothing to show we are trying. Lord help me get through this, but I will still have pre marital sex. Lord how come you didn’t hear me, as we live partying in drunkenness? We need to decide are we going to accept Jesus and then commit ourselves to live like Him, growing everyday or are we going to talk about it and not change a thing? We need to learn and grow to be like Christ seeking wisdom from the Lord and our best resource is God’s word. Other books are good for us but not instead of what God has given us. I say ask, seek, and knock are great words given by Jesus for us to follow daily. Amen Psalm 119:1-2 “”Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for Him with all their hearts.”
That is incredible, are we searching for Him with all our hearts or are we hoping He will meet us half way? He has done all He has to by going to the cross, we need to step it up and truly realize how incredible that faithfulness was by living a life that is pleasing to Him. He thought of us instead of Himself and surrendered His will for God’s and we are taught in His holy word to do the same. Are we willing to forget ourselves and realize what we need to do to become fully devoted followers of Jesus? Open God’s word and apply it to your everyday life, reading it for purpose and understanding so it will open your heart to what is true. In verse 7 it says, “As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should.” Search for Him with all your heart and remember to do what it says in Psalm 118:29 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Amen Psalm 111:7-10 “All He does is just and good, and all His commandments are trustworthy. They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. He has paid a full ransom for His people. He has guaranteed His covenant with them forever. What a holy, awe-inspiring name He has! Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise Him forever.”
To me this is just an amazing vision of why it is so important to learn everything from the Lord. There is nothing we are taught that is for evil or will lead us to do something not glorifying. We are shown how to live and how to grow to be incredible people for the growth of the Kingdom. I feel leadership consist of action and not just knowing the most. Jesus went through this world and took our sin, in verse 9 it says, “He has guaranteed His covenant with them forever…” What He did can’t be changed, but we can choose not to honor what He did by living for self and not fearing what could happen when we separate from Him. Verse 10 says, “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.” Where do we desire to get our wisdom from? It should be from God’s word, reading and praying so we can learn to be fully devoted and committed to Him. There is something to be said about being “devoted” and putting our trust in the Lord. In Psalm chapter 112 verse 1 it says, “Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands.” I really like that it say “delight in obeying”, because it should not be a job or work to follow Christ, it should be amazing. In chapter 112 verse 7 it says, “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.” I seek to have this wisdom where I can truly trust and live in peace with the Lord in all I do and in all that happens to me. We need to love the Lord and show Him by obeying all He has shown us with joy and delight. Amen |
