 Romans 1:17
“This Good News tells us how God makes us right in His sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

Sometimes we want our experience with Jesus to be all what He can do for us, when the fact is He already came and did, we need to step up and join Him. We need to have faith and believe what the word says, not what we want it to say.  The word says in Hebrews chapter 11 verse 1, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” Our faith in what Jesus has done on the cross and our co-laboring with Him allows us to grow and understand the truth of The Good News. We must have faith that Jesus came to earth, God in flesh, went to the cross, died and was buried in the tomb and then rose from the dead.  Because of this Good News we have eternal life through our acceptance and belief in Jesus Christ.

The more we study the word of God the more we know Jesus and that Good News keeps us growing and our faith develops and we do what Jesus did.  He is clear that we will do more when we believe in Him. In John chapter 14 verse 12 it says, "I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.” Jesus perfects the faith we have and we have the power in us to shine His light for people to see. Our life will show our faith because of our relationship with Him, this will be evident by the trials we endure and the thankfulness in our hearts.  James chapter 1 verse 3 says, “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” Our endurance is important because this temporary home will be full of challenges and hardships, which are not given to us by God, but by our own desires and the ruler of this world, satan.

James goes on in verse 4 to say, “So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.” Don't get discouraged, Jesus has overcome the world and we belong to Him. In John chapter 14 verses 30-31 He says this to His disciples, “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me, but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.” His surrender and obedience is shown by Him actions and our faith in Him are shown by ours.  I want to end with the verse in James chapter 2 verse 26, “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” Let's keep feeding our faith and doing life through what we know about the Good News and let Jesus shine. Amen

1 Peter 5:8

"Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”

As we accept Jesus and seek wisdom we need to remember that the world is the devils to prowl around and cause confusion. We have and know our savior but the devil is looking to devour this world and keep us from the joy and peace God has given us through Jesus Christ.  Stay alert, means we should live our lives aware and learning from His word daily. See this relationship with Christ is what helps us grow and it strengthens us to say get behind me satan. Verse 9 goes on to say, “Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”

Not only should we have a good relationship with Jesus but we should build and have relationships with like minded people that keep us focused and strong.  (Small Groups) at whatever church you go to, this is something you need to join, lead, host or whatever they call it and see how much growth you will have.  As we stay alert, we get prepared and when we get prepared we are ready for whatever happens in this crazy world.  Jesus perfects our faith, our faith doesn't increase because God loves us more than someone else, it is perfected by knowing Jesus and letting the Spirit lead our lives. The trust we develop needs to be no matter what situation is happening to us because this is not our home.  Our time here is for us to shine His light and help people see Jesus in us, then this world has a chance to change.

I love what it says in verse 10, “In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.” This all happens when we understand that this world is showing us a different life than the one God has for us. The world make us believe that we should watch out for number one, do whatever it takes to get ahead, surrender is week, and the more you have the more important you are.  This is not what God has for us, the word says; love your neighbor as yourself, surrender your will for His, give and it will be given back to you, these are the things we need to continue to see and live out as we stay alert and prepare ourselves for shining His light. Amen
