Psalm 32

Psalm 32:3-5 “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.  Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me.  My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.  Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt.  I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.’  And you forgave me!  All my guilt is gone.”

I can relate to this so much, when I hold on to my sin I feel so blah and life less.  It is so much nicer when you open up to God and let His strength fill your heart.  His direction is true and full of life, we need to surrender and give in.

Verse 8 says, “The Lord says, I will guide you along the best pathways for your life.  I will advise you and watch over you.”

Do we truly believe this, if not why?  God’s word is full of the best life examples, we just need to open it and take it in.

In verse 9 it says, “Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

We need to willingly open His word and seek wisdom that can make a difference.  We need to die to self and open our hearts to be different.

In chapter 33 verse 21 it says, “In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.”

The key word is rejoice, are you able to rejoice in the Lord?  If not turn to Him and let Him in.  Amen

Psalm 27

Psalm 27:4 “The one thing I ask of the Lord- the thing I seek most- is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in His Temple.”

This statement is amazing to me.  This is what we need to do, “live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.”  I could not think of anything more comforting or incredible.  Do we delight in the Lord’s perfections?  He is all powerful, so why do we question what we learn?  He is all knowing, all loving, do we truly want to surrender to Him and live as Christ did, what makes us fall short?  These questions motivate me to fill myself with the Holy Spirit so I can live in His house always.

In chapter 27 verse 1 it says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation so why should I be afraid?”

This is so true; we should be afraid of nothing and seek all wisdom from the Lord.  We do wonderful things because He is our strength.  When things don’t go perfect in our eyes seek more help and understanding, don’t question why, pray for more so you can grow and be a light.

In verse 11 it says, “Teach me how to live, O Lord.  Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.”

Keep me strong when the world seems so exciting and I want to fill my physical desires or my want for money or things.  Think who your enemies are and pray what it says in verse 12.  “Do not let me fall into their hands…”

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, we need to passionately pursue Him and as verse 14 says, “Wait patently for the Lord.  Be brave and courageous.  Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.  Amen

Psalm 19

Psalm 19:7-9 “The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul.  The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.  The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart.  The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.  Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever.  The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.”

When you stop and think of these verses you realize how incredible God is for laying out a great path for us to follow.  Nothing He asks of us is difficult when we are meditating on His instruction.  What becomes hard is the world around us and our need for instant gratification, the second part of verse 8 says, “The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living.”  Why is it so hard for us to surrender to God and live by His standards?  We are never given instructions that are too unbearable, because we are told to turn to Christ and we can do all things.  We are so set on being the ones that are strong and prideful.  It limits us from truly dying t self and living for others.  We are so easily pulled by our feelings that we will do anything for that physical or emotional high.

In verses 12-13 it says, “How can I know all the sins lurking in my heart?  Cleanse me from these hidden faults.  Keep your servant from deliberate sins!  Don’t let them control me.  Then I will be free of guilt and innocent of great sin.”

We need to stop daily and turn to God for help with what we are struggling with, and understand we can’t figure out everything on our own.  Truly open our hearts and be willing to listen and follow all that we are taught.  Amen

Romans 2

Romans 2:7-8 “He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers.  But He will pour out His anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.”

This shows us that we really need to be working on living our lives to resemble Christ.  We can do everything we think is right, but if we don’t truly work on transforming our lives to live out our faith we will be spinning our wheels.

We are told by Jesus in John 14:27, “I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give.  So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

This is what I want to receive because trails and tribulations are inevitable, and this world has challenges that I cannot get through on my own.

In Romans chapter 2 verses 28-29 it says, “For you are not a Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision.  No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God.  And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit.  And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.”

We need to be willing to grow and live everyday to glorify God seeking to hear Him say well done good and faithful servant.  Open your hearts and be different than the world, look at Christ for your strength and direction.  Amen

Psalm 1

Psalm 1:1-3 “Oh, the joy of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.  But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.  They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

After reading this the other day I felt like sharing what it meant to me.  It is so important for us to fully commit to learning from the Lord.  It said they “delighted in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.”  We need to do the same; it didn’t say out of obligation they meditated on it day and night, it said they delighted in it.  Are we learning and growing to check off a box so we feel like we accomplish something or is it what we desire to do.  God showed us His love by sending His Son so we can have eternal life.  We should be so grateful that we can’t get enough or do enough to live a life that is like Christ.  When we do this it becomes easier for us to stay strong while we are in the world.

Verse 1 says, “Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.”

I think the key word is “follow”, when we are in God’s word and praying we follow what is good.  When we do it on our own we get lost in the world.  Seek the joy of learning and growing, and then you will experience what it says in verse 3, “They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season.  Their lives never wither, and they prosper in all they do.”

This is not prosperity in wealth and fame, it is prosperity to glorify God and be a witness for Christ in every situation.  People see your walk and want to have the same; you are a true light in this dark world.  Jesus Christ is the most incredible gift, embrace Him and live out what you learn.  Amen

Acts 20:21

Acts 20:21 “I have had one message for Jews and Greeks alike- the necessity of repenting from sin and turning to God, and of having faith in our Lord Jesus.”

This is so simple yet so hard.  We want more and more when we just need to turn to God and have faith in Jesus Christ.  We need to open our hearts to what is said and be willing to truly repent of our sins.  The Holy Spirit fills us when we are obedient and faithful and willing to listen.

I love what Paul says in verse 24 “But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus- the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”

We need to fill ourselves with what God is showing us and then live it out for people to see.  When we truly live by the Spirit we choose what is right and we are able to do the work assigned to us.  That is spreading the Good News and showing people a different person that loves God and then people.  The Spirit leads us to live holy lives that resemble Christ; we choose to do what feels good and is worldly.  We need to die to self and have faith that this world is not what we are living for.  We are living for Christ that is why the Holy Spirit is so helpful and is called the comforter.

Truly stop and read Philippians 1:21, “For to me, living means living for Christ, and dying is even better.”

Do we really believe “living is for Christ” or do we struggle with living is for me.  I always want to pray that I grow in wisdom and understanding and I pray for God to show me everything He wants so I can make a difference.

Paul prays in Philippians 1:9 “I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding.”

Surrender to His will and live asking for everything that is good and helpful, but don’t seek gifts more than God.  He is the one that gives everything and He is love so when you ask, seek, and knock be ready to live out what you learn, then you can live like Christ and say “your will be done.”  Amen
