Romans 15:13 "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."

While reading these two things hit me: First, we must remember God is the source of hope.  He has given us the tools to be full of peace and joy, so if we are not, we need to surrender and dive in.  Second, it says, we are full of these things because we trust in Him.  We must trust in Him and believe in who He is, so we are full and our lives aren't stuck in this world looking for the things it can't offer.  In John chapter 14 verse 27 it says, "I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid."  When we realize that our trust is shown by our obedience and the surrender of our will, we can make a lasting impression. It's not that we are saved by our obedience and surrender, it's that we will overflow with confident hope and our lives we be a light in the world.

It says in Revelation chapter 22 verse 7, "Look, I am coming soon! Blessed are those who obey the words of prophecy written in this book."  When we open the word and live it we are showing that we trust God and with that trust comes fullness of life for now and for eternity.  When we say we trust but our desires keep getting in the way, we will alway struggle to have joy and peace.  When our faith matures we will be complete needing nothing.  It says in James chapter 1 verse 4, "For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." So I say trust in the Lord and be complete. Amen

Romans 14

Romans 14:7-8 "For we don’t live for ourselves or die for ourselves. If we live, it’s to honor the Lord. And if we die, it’s to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord."

This is a great reminder for me every time I get caught up in what I think I need to do. When I remember I belong to the Lord my daily agenda becomes a joy and not burdensome, but when I loose that focus my days become stressful. We need to constantly remind ourselves that we are here to do His will not ours. That is why we need to die to self and know the word, which is Jesus.  When we all renew our minds daily we remember this and we don't continue to argue about the little things.  Verse 19 says, "So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up." We can only do this when we surrender our will and work on doing His.

When we do that, love is what we desire and love is so important to our being fully devoted followers to Christ.  Look at what Romans chapter 13 verse 8 says, "Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law." Again this takes us knowing the word and living it out to honor the Lord.  When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior then we should let Him be that.  What I mean is; we should do the things that He is telling us and forget our flesh. We can all say we were born that way, and we were born separated from God because of Adam and Eve, but as we grow and decide to choose Jesus we are baptized and we become new creations.

I love what Paul says in Galatians chapter 6 verses 14-15 which say, "As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world's interest in me has also died. It doesn't matter whether we have been circumcised or not. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation." The change happens when we allow God's word to change us and we let go of our old self. We can't get stuck in our flesh and because of Jesus we don't have to. Live to honor the Lord in all things and remember He is with us always.  Amen
