2 Corinthians 6

As I read today this verse from 2 Corinthians chapter 6 just jumped out to me.  It is Paul talking about all his hardship and his life and I really love what he said in verse 10.

“Our hearts ache, but we always have joy.  We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others.  We own nothing, and yet we have everything.”

We always have joy is remarkable to me because that’s what we all could have in the Lord when we die to self and fill our hearts with Him.  I know that comes from trusting in the Lord and totally surrendering to God and His will.  Our walk with the Lord will always have some kind of bumpy road because satan is working hard to help us focus on ourselves.  We need to continually learn and grow to be filled with the Spirit so we actually want to change and be a new creation.  Dying to self is our challenge and is the easiest way satan can cloud our walk and keep us stumbling without joy.

Look at Chapter 7 verse 1 which says, “Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit.  And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.”

Do we realize the amazing gift God gave us, or do we not really think about it?  Paul says, “…and let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God.”  Do we work at our relationship with the Lord or do we expect it because of the free gift?  We need to be opened to what the Spirit is saying, and that gets louder the more we turn to God for wisdom.  I pray that I always have joy as I work hard to be just like Christ.  Amen

Psalm 56

Psalm 56:11-13 “I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?  What can mere mortals do to me?  I will fulfill my vows to you, O God, and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.  For you have rescued me from death; you have kept my feet from slipping.  So I can walk in your presence, O God, in your life-giving light.”

How amazing is this Psalm?  Why do we let this world keep us struggling?  It can not do anything to us; we are in our loaner bodies here and should be waiting with excitement to be home someday.  David says; “…and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.”  Have we surrendered to His will and died to self so we can truly be thankful for all Jesus did?  Jesus dying on the cross was the help we needed and accepting that and being thankful is what keeps our feet from slipping.  Having that relationship with Christ is what keeps us strong and focused on Him.  We need to spend time asking and seeking wisdom that comes from the Lord so we can grow more confident and trusting in our walk in His presence.  I would ask everyone to pray a prayer of thanks after reading this today and just stop and realize how Great our God is.  Amen

Psalm 50

Psalm 50:23 “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me.  If you keep to my path, will reveal to you the salvation of God.”

This seems so simple and really makes me want to focus on God.  He has done so much to continually show His love by sending His son Jesus to take our sins.  How can we not be thankful everyday no matter what is happening in our lives?  Jesus has bridged the gap and is our way home to the Father, it is so important to continually learn from the bible (God’s word) so we can work on the path that leads to life.

In Matthew 7:14 Jesus tells us, “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few will ever find it.”

We need to be thankful and seek God’s wisdom everyday and then live out what the Spirit puts on our heart.  Our changed lives and growing hearts are what God desires, and it keeps us focused on Christ who is our example for living on earth.  Pray and be open to do God’s will and be thankful always for the free gift of salvation.  Thanks to God for our Lord ands Savior Jesus Christ.  Amen
