This is so important as we call on Him for whatever, we must check our own walk as we live. Are we living a way that is glorifying to Him or are we living in the world but wanting Him to be there? This is so important because God can’t be in sin so when we truly call on Him in truth He is there but when we call on Him in our worldly living He is waiting for us. It says, “The Lord is righteous in everything He does…” so we must seek Him with the desire to learn and change to be one with Him. Jesus is our perfect example of living a way that always glorified the Father and He felt His presence always. But when He was on the cross and took our sins God separated from Him and that was the agony Jesus suffered in His preparation for the cross. We can’t live our way and expect God to be there approving it. We can’t say I want to dedicate my life to the Lord then do nothing to show we are trying. Lord help me get through this, but I will still have pre marital sex. Lord how come you didn’t hear me, as we live partying in drunkenness? We need to decide are we going to accept Jesus and then commit ourselves to live like Him, growing everyday or are we going to talk about it and not change a thing? We need to learn and grow to be like Christ seeking wisdom from the Lord and our best resource is God’s word. Other books are good for us but not instead of what God has given us. I say ask, seek, and knock are great words given by Jesus for us to follow daily. Amen
Psalm 145:17-18 “The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.”

1 Corinthians 10:32-11:1 “Don’t give offense to Jesus or Gentiles or the church of God. I, too, try to please everyone in everything I do. I don’t just do what is best for me; I do what is best for others so that many may be saved. And you should imitate me, just as I imitate Christ.”
This is so perfect for us to think about and pray about. We all struggle with I don’t like this or that, or I wish this could be better so I can enjoy it more, but when it comes down to it we should be glorifying God. We should not settle for less but we should bring out the best in ourselves by living for Christ. Paul wanted everything to be done to help people see how incredible Christ was, do we? If someone is truly glorifying God in what they are doing I say let them even if it is uncomfortable to us. It is what is really in our hearts that comes out when we are dealing with people. When we are living as Christ did we shine and people see us being different and this is what moves people to seek the same. When we argue and condemn someone who is doing their best to honor God, we are acting selfishly. We need to constantly be learning and growing, asking God to show us more wisdom and then help people at all levels to find the same. It is so important to be faithful followers that can make anyone feel the importance of Christ and what He did for us. I ask us all to listen to this warning from Paul in 10 verse 12, “If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.” Only be satisfied with continued knowledge from the Lord and actively ask and seek the lord. Amen Psalm 119:1-2 “”Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey His laws and search for Him with all their hearts.”
That is incredible, are we searching for Him with all our hearts or are we hoping He will meet us half way? He has done all He has to by going to the cross, we need to step it up and truly realize how incredible that faithfulness was by living a life that is pleasing to Him. He thought of us instead of Himself and surrendered His will for God’s and we are taught in His holy word to do the same. Are we willing to forget ourselves and realize what we need to do to become fully devoted followers of Jesus? Open God’s word and apply it to your everyday life, reading it for purpose and understanding so it will open your heart to what is true. In verse 7 it says, “As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should.” Search for Him with all your heart and remember to do what it says in Psalm 118:29 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Amen Psalm 111:7-10 “All He does is just and good, and all His commandments are trustworthy. They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. He has paid a full ransom for His people. He has guaranteed His covenant with them forever. What a holy, awe-inspiring name He has! Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom. Praise Him forever.”
To me this is just an amazing vision of why it is so important to learn everything from the Lord. There is nothing we are taught that is for evil or will lead us to do something not glorifying. We are shown how to live and how to grow to be incredible people for the growth of the Kingdom. I feel leadership consist of action and not just knowing the most. Jesus went through this world and took our sin, in verse 9 it says, “He has guaranteed His covenant with them forever…” What He did can’t be changed, but we can choose not to honor what He did by living for self and not fearing what could happen when we separate from Him. Verse 10 says, “Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom. All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.” Where do we desire to get our wisdom from? It should be from God’s word, reading and praying so we can learn to be fully devoted and committed to Him. There is something to be said about being “devoted” and putting our trust in the Lord. In Psalm chapter 112 verse 1 it says, “Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying His commands.” I really like that it say “delight in obeying”, because it should not be a job or work to follow Christ, it should be amazing. In chapter 112 verse 7 it says, “They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.” I seek to have this wisdom where I can truly trust and live in peace with the Lord in all I do and in all that happens to me. We need to love the Lord and show Him by obeying all He has shown us with joy and delight. Amen Romans 15:13 “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
What are you filling yourself with? I try everyday to fill myself with God in some way, reading, praying, watching people or listening. The Holy Spirit is loud in us when we decide to fill ourselves with what is honoring to God. Is our trust completely in Him? This question we all need to ask ourselves because we might say it but we might not be living it. I like this quote I heard from James McDonald, “The Christian who learns and applies the word becomes mature and, in turn, can help others mature.” 2 Timothy 2:2 says, “You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these things to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.” Never be silent, let your passion be clear to all that see you so you are a great witness for God. Psalm 86:11 says, “Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” We should do this daily so we can be a bright light to the world, never being satisfied with what we think we know. Amen Psalm 91:1-2 “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.”
Do we trust Him enough to truly surrender to Him and put all our trust in Him? This is tough for us especially when the world is happening so fast and is full of worldly pleasures. In chapter 90 verse 12 it says, “Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.” Brevity means short if any else needed to know like me. Do we understand how short our lives are? When we stop and slow down and trust in the Lord we can make a difference in the kingdom by our actions. We are given all we need by God and we have the perfect example in Christ to be warriors for Christ forgetting the worldly wisdom and seeking Godly wisdom. I love what is says in chapter 91 verse 14, “The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.” Who are we living for? Think about that as you struggle finding time to get in God’s word or pray or serve, or simply living Christ like. God did all He needs to do, the ball is in our court, how much do we want to fill ourselves with the Spirit of God? There is no limit when we say your will be done. Amen Psalm 78:36-39 “But all they gave Him was lip service; they lied to Him with their tongues. Their hearts were not loyal to Him. They did not keep His covenant. Yet He was merciful and forgave their sins and did not destroy them all. Many times He held back His anger and did not unleash His fury! For He remembered that they were merely mortal, gone like a breath of wind that never returns.”
How is our relationship with Christ? Are we learning and growing to be fully committed to be like Him or are we giving lip service? It is so easy to say we are Christians and do some of the things needed to play the part, but God wants all of us. He wants us to surrender our selfish human lives to live for Him just as Jesus did. Our faith is not a bunch of boxes we check off as completed, our faith is alive and constant; seeking and asking. I say take all the titles and names away and truly live like someone who is transformed and living to be like Christ. Amen Romans 14:17-18 “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.”
It is so important that we work on living a life that glorifies God in all we do so the Spirit lives in us loudly. The way we act is so important for people around us. When we act out of love for the Lord and live to be a servant for Christ, people can see real Christianity. But when we live for what pleases us we fall short and the world thinks we are hypocrites. At the end of verse 17 it says, “…living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” When we devote ourselves to reading and praying and asking God to help, we are full of the Holy Spirit and our actions sow it. We should seek this daily and live by the Spirit not by our own strength. In chapter 13 verse 14 it says, “Instead clothe your self with the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. And don’t let your self think about ways to indulge your evil desires.” It is so important that we die to self and truly live for Christ, so we can be a true light that is bright. Amen Romans 11:19-20 “Well, you may say, those branches were broken off to make room for me. Yes, but remember – those branches were broken off because they didn’t believe in Christ, and you are there because you do believe. So don’t think highly of yourself, but fear what could happen.”
This really makes me think about all the once saved always saved mentality. The Jewish people that are still waiting for the messiah have been broken off and we have been given the Good News so we can share in God’s glory. The end of verse 20 really paints a picture, “…so don’t think highly of yourself, but fear what could happen.” We are secure in Christ’s love but did we die to self and raise up new in Christ when we repented, confessed and were baptized? Verse 21 goes on to say “For if God did not spare the original branches, he won’t spare you either.” We can’t have a nonchalant attitude when it comes to our faith; we need to work on growing and understanding all that we learn from God’s word and the Holy Spirit. Then we must follow Christ example and live out our faith. In verse 22 it says, “Notice how God is both kind and severe. He is severe toward those who disobeyed, but kind to you if you continue to trust in His kindness. But if you stop trusting, you also will be cut off.” This is a heart check, are we seeking God’s will by being fully committed to Jesus Christ or are we trying to use Jesus as our fix when we mess up? Too truly belong to Christ and live a way that shows you are living for Him you need to WANT a relationship with Him. You don’t need it is a check it off the list relationship where you place Him in trying to fill your holes. He needs to be the center of your life and the light that you desire to be like. I want to end with verse 36, “For everything comes from Him and exists by His power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever!” Amen |
