“Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly—not for what you will get out of it, but because you are eager to serve God. Don’t lord it over the people assigned to your care, but lead them by your own good example.”
As a pastor I always want to let go and let God open my heart to people and be the example of a shepherd. My mission for my life is "helping people who believe in Jesus, belong to Jesus" when God places us somewhere and we have a role of a pastor or leader, we should focus on them seeing Christ in us and our how we truly love the ones in our care. Paul shares this as he writes to the Philippians in chapter 1 verses 6-11, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus. I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ —for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”
When we open ourselves up to love and care for people God makes things grow. We are a team of people watering and planting, but we have to remember that God makes it grow, so love people and guide them with the truth. When we do this with eagerness the light shines bright and people are drawn to it. We need to continue to think of others and work to make an impact that will change people's hearts. This happens when we remember it is not in our own strength but in His. We let the Holy Spirit lead us and we seek Him before we move or act or speak. We need to look up be thankful and say as the prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah chapter 6 verse 8, “Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” We need to be ready because we are full of joy and His power, then be ready for amazing things will happen. Amen
