2 Samuel 12

2 Samuel 12:22-23 “David replied, I fasted and wept while the child was alive, for I said, Perhaps the Lord will be gracious to me and let the child live.  But why should I fast when he is dead?  Can I bring him back again?  I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me.”

I love this because David focuses on what is true and that is working on seeing him someday.  We should be living our lives for the Lord and working everyday to be Christ like.  We can’t let life in this world devastate how we believe; we need to stay focused on heaven and living a way that pleases the Lord.

In Philippians chapter 2 verse 12 Paul says, “Dear friends, you always followed my instruction when I was with you.  And now that I am away, it is even more important.  Work to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.”

Are you putting in the time to grow and understand what God wants?  When you fill yourself with the wisdom from God you will be able to handle anything that might happen.

Verse 13 says “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him.”

When we seek He will find us, we just need to continue to open our hearts and mind and use what we learn.  Be active and always moving toward the prize, Jesus Christ, and live the way He should us to.  Amen

John 3

John 3:3 “Jesus replied, I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God.”

We have got to open our hearts and let God be number one, working on learning and seeking His wisdom so we can grow.  When we let go and let God we should be filling ourselves with what is good and from God our old self should be the last thing on our minds.

Jesus says in John chapter 3 verses 5-8, “I assure you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.  Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.  So don’t be surprised when I say, you must be born again.  The wind blows wherever it wants, just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.”

This is so incredible to think about, it really makes you think of when you where born again and truly changed your life to put God first and live with no doubt that He is in charge and loves you.  Your heart will change and you will desire to learn and grow and share the light (Spirit) that is inside you.  We can’t explain it but we can embrace it and live it so people see the Spirit flowing from us.

In chapter 3 verse 27 John the Baptist says, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven.”

So ask, seek and knock and be faithful with whatever you get from Him.  God has filled His part of the covenant by sending His Son, we need to believe this and live it showing our love for Him.  Are you willing to change and fill yourself 100% for the Father?  Never be satisfied with what you know, always seek wisdom from God.  Amen

Luke 22

Luke 22:31-32 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.  But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail.  So when you have repented and turned to Me again, strengthen your brothers.”

This stood out to me today as I read.  Jesus has prayed to keep Peter strong and to turn to Him again.  If Peter would have to turn to Him again that means he could have chosen to not follow and live as he wanted.  We need to continue to grow in the Lord and do our best to stay strong by filling ourselves with the word of God and in prayer.  There is no magic prayer to keep us safe from our own choices, we must embrace Jesus and love God with all our heart, mind and soul realizing that our fight won’t end until we hear “well done good and faithful servant.”  When we fill ourselves with the wisdom of God and the Holy Spirit leads us we choose life.  But when we live for this world and don’t feel learning and growing matter we choose death.  Don’t be comfortable in what you know, be willing to continue to grow and learn from the Lord so you can remain strong in Him.  Amen

1 Samuel 15

1 Samuel 15:22 “But Samuel replied, what is more pleasing to the Lord:  Your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice?  Listen!  Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”

Saul was told to destroy fully the Analekites, all people and animals but he decided to keep the king alive and the best of the animals.  Why I wanted to write on this is because Saul understood what he was supposed to do but his want for things clouded his judgment.  In our walk with the Lord Do we want to obey but are so easily talked out of it by our own desires?  Our obedience is so pleasing to God and our effort to learn more and more is what keeps us in relationship with Him.

In verse 20 Saul says, “But I did obey the Lord…”

He really felt that he did even though he kept all the best of the livestock.  I feel when we devote ourselves to being obedient we can grow to become better at following His example and more aware of our denial and self satisfaction.  We need to fill ourselves with the Holy Spirit daily and continue to as it says in Philippians in the middle of verse 12, “…Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with reverence and fear.”

Never be satisfied with what you know, always seek more wisdom from the Lord and remember Jesus is the example we need to accept and follow.  Amen

1 Samuel 12:20-21 “Don’t be afraid, Samuel reassured them.  You have certainly done wrong, but make sure now that you worship the Lord with all your heart, and don’t turn your back on Him.  Don’t go back to worshiping worthless idols that cannot help or rescue you they are totally useless!”

Samuel is telling Israel they should have never asked for a king because God was their king, but they always wanted something more.  I liked this because it fits our lives, we have done wrong but we need to turn to the Lord and love Him above all else truly living to glorify Him.  We hold onto things so tightly that it causes us to use God as filler in our lives.  He must be what motivates us to live, Jesus is our perfect example and we must learn how to truly die to self and become fully devoted followers of Him.

Verse 24 says, “But be sure to fear the Lord and faithfully serve Him.  Think of all the wonderful things He has done for you.”

All we need to think about is Him sending Jesus to die for our sins, that is enough, God has shown us His unconditional love and unbelievable love.  Now we need to accept that free gift and live our lives to be like Christ by filling ourselves with all the wisdom from God and trusting in what He has done.  Amen

Luke 16

Luke 16:13-15 “No one can serve two masters.  For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other.  You cannot serve both God and Money.  The Pharisees, who dearly loved their money, heard all this and scoffed at Him.  Then He said to them, ‘You like to appear righteous in public, but God knows your hearts.  What this world honors is detestable in the sight of God.”

After reading this the last part really stood out to me, “what this world honors is detestable in the sight of God.”  What do we hold tightly in our life that we think we can’t do without?  If we have things like that we should think about why it is so important to us.  We should love God above all else and hold all the worldly things loosely realizing that they really don’t matter.

In verse 9 Jesus says, “Here’s the lesson:  Use your worldly resources to benefit others and friends.  Then, when your earthly possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.”

Jesus had nothing and never wanted, He was focused on the Father and helping people see the light.  Where is our focus?  If it is not on God and living your life as Christ did you should re-think what you are doing.  Open God’s word and study all that it says, asking God to show you what to do.  We need to live our lives in a way that resembles the perfect example, Jesus.  This can’t be done without an understanding of how He loved.  Embrace the gift of eternal life that was given so freely to us and have peace on earth because we are like Christ.  Remember Jesus’ prayer said thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Amen
