Acts 17

Acts 17:27-28 “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him- though He is not far from any one of us.  For in Him we live and move and exist.  As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are His off spring.”

Do we seek after Him for our every need?  Do we truly believe what the bible tells us?  And are we willing to learn and grow to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ?  These are questions that we need to ask ourselves as we grow and mature in our relationship with God.  Jesus says in Matthew 7:13-14 “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate.  The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.  But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few even find it.”

Are we satisfied with mediocrity and only doing some things God explains to us, or do you desire to get on the difficult road and give it all to God?  We are called to be Christ like and Christ obeyed the Father and did everything the Father told Him.  We must be willing to say I truly believe and want to know more and then follow what we learn by living it out.  When God is the center of our lives we will strive to do all we can to be obedient and that means serving, giving and loving just as we are shown in God’s word.  Don’t sit back and hope the ride takes you to the narrow road, let God drive you there.  Then you will experience all the strength, joy and love He promises through our trials and tribulations.  The difficult road is going to be a constant dying to self and living for others but the end result is so worth it.  Seek Him in all you do and obey everything even when it is not the easy thing to do.  Amen

2 Chronicles 19

2 Chronicles 19:7 “Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or taking of bribes.”

This is for when King Jehoshophat appointed judges to Judah, but it is a great way for us to think when dealing with people.  Our actions should be to teach people to be Christ like; we shouldn’t allow little things to be done wrong.  In the eyes of God we should aim for perfection to do what He has shown us to do.  People want to let the little things go and brush them under the rug, but we should study and pray to be full of the Spirit and work hard to follow it always.  I love the fact that God loves us so much and is constantly doing things for us to feel His presence.  It makes me want to learn everyday to be fully devoted to Christ.

In 2 Chronicles 16:9 it says, “The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him...”

Have you fully committed to Him and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?  Do you desire to learn and want more?  I think when the Spirit is in us we will love to learn and try our hardest to follow the example he set for us.  Never stop learning and seeking wisdom from the Lord.  Our lives on earth are for us to constantly learn and then live to be an example so people can see and open their hearts.  I say let’s be the best examples we can by always living to honor God.  Amen

Acts 2

Acts 2:46-47 “They worshiped together at the temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people.  And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

This is a great vision of what we do as we mature in our faith.  It becomes about others not just ourselves.  You go to church on the weekend to help with growth and then you should be meeting in homes during the week to continue to challenge and encourage each other.  All the while you should be praising God for all He has done and live out all you learn to be a light in the world.  As we grow and have community with other it helps us keep focused on what is true and God adds to the numbers who are accepting Christ.  This is the passion we need for the Lord, one that makes us move, share and live the way Jesus did.

In Acts chapter 4 verse 32 it says, “All the believers were united in heart and mind.  And they felt that what they owned was not their own, so they shared everything they had.”

Nothing is ours, God has given us everything, and we need to continue to learn and grow so we can serve God with joyful hearts and spread the light of Christ to everyone.  Amen

1 Chronicles 29

1 Chronicles 29:16-17 “O Lord our God, even this material we have gathered to build a temple to honor your Holy name comes from you!  It all belongs to you!  I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there.  You know I done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyfully.”

As David’s prayer says, everything we have is God’s, so why do we hold on so tightly to it?  We need to read and pray so we can offer our gifts willingly and joyously to Him.  Our tithe should never trouble us as we are giving God back what is His.  Our spiritual maturity grows as we fill ourselves with wisdom from God.  We should never feel satisfied where we are in our journey with the Lord.

David prays for his people in verse 18 “O Lord, the God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make your people always want to obey you.  See to it that their love for you never changes.”

We should pray these types of prayers also, it is so important to always focus on being obedient and loving God above all else.  Everything we do should be done out of willingness and joy because God has given us so much because of His love.  Amen

1 Chronicles 22:12-13 “And may the Lord give you wisdom and understanding, that you may obey the law of the Lord your God as you rule over Israel.  For you will be successful if you carefully obey the decrees and regulations that the Lord gave to Israel through Moses.  Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid or lose heart.”

We should have prayers like this to the Lord for our kids.  We should always turn to the Lord and be strong and courageous and live to glorify Him in all we do.

Jesus goes and prays for us in John 17:20-21 “I am praying not for these disciples but for all who will ever believe in me through their message.  I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one- as you are in me, Father, and I am in you.  And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me.”

Show by the way you live that you are full of the Spirit and one with the Lord.  This is what makes a difference for people to see Christ in all of us.  When we are living as one we are full of light and darkness flees, so remember to pray and open God’s word and ask for wisdom from the Lord.  Amen

1 Chronicles 16:11 “Search for the Lord and for His strength; continually seek Him.”

This is great direction for us to follow; we can never stop seeking Him.  When we get comfortable with our walk and we feel we can take it easy we must seek Him even more.  I love that it says continually because to me that means it is a true relationship.  Relationships should be constantly growing and developing we should never take them for granted and stop working on them because we are comfortable.  Turn to God for everything, slow down and be still so you can hear and feel His presence then live in the strength he give.  Amen
