2 Thessalonians 1

2 Thessalonians‬ ‭1:7‬-8 NLT

“And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with Him mighty angels,” in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.”

This stood out to me and I think we should let it sink in and help us as we draw close to Him and build a relationship. As believers we are told there will be trials and tribulations, this is because this is not the place God has created for us to stay in. Our home is heaven and we are here to shine a light by knowing Jesus. When we seek a relationship with Him by having faith and believing, we are more than able to make a difference. People sometimes ask, how long they will have to work, that answer is until Jesus returns or we pass away. He comforts us everyday but that comfort is not our rest it is our strength to reach more people that don't know Jesus. Also, it is to help us with the continual bashing from the people that call this world their home.

Not everyone will accept and believe who Jesus is, it is a narrow road. Matthew chapter 7 verse 14 says this; “But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” The people that don't find it could be people that go to church with you. We need to realize God doesn't want us to just talk about Jesus, He wants us to be like Jesus. And we can only do that by knowing Him and knowing what we need to do while we are in this temporary home. We can't change the word to fit us we need to let God transform us into the word.

When we surrender and let Him, we start to understand as Jesus did, that obedience is a good and needed thing. And with obedience comes repentance, which keeps us united with Him in love. Jesus makes this statement in John chapter 14 verse 15, “If you love me, obey my commandments.” This verse is followed up by Jesus showing us the importance of our belief and who is living in us. Verses 16-17 say, “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive Him, because it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you know Him, because He lives with you now and later will be in you.” We are given the Holy Spirit when we accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and He will guide us and keep showing us Jesus in every part of our lives, we need to choose to listen and see that our rest will come soon when Jesus returns. Stay alert and focused because this world will always be a stumbling block if we let it. Amen

Philippians 4:13

Philippians‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭NLT
"For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”

That has been one of my favorite verses and an inspiration to me to keep working hard. As I read it today I really saw the verses that led up to it, verses 11-12 which say, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.” It is letting us know that His strength is there for us when we are out of a job, or when we are making money, healthy or sick, content or overwhelmed.  His strength might not get us out of the situation at that time but it will get us through it, all the way, even if the situation doesn't change for a while.

Jesus is not our quick fix, He is our stability and our savior. Savior in this temporary life as we prepare for eternal life. No matter the situation, no matter how terrible, He is our strength.  When we build a relationship and we do what it says in scripture we see the strength. I love what it says in Colossians chapter 2 verses 6-7, “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”  That growth and thankfulness keeps Philippians 4: 13 fresh in our head as we live powerful lives for Jesus. Philippians chapter 4 verse 13, "For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Amen
