2 Samuel 12

2 Samuel 12:22-23 “David replied, I fasted and wept while the child was alive, for I said, Perhaps the Lord will be gracious to me and let the child live.  But why should I fast when he is dead?  Can I bring him back again?  I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me.”

I love this because David focuses on what is true and that is working on seeing him someday.  We should be living our lives for the Lord and working everyday to be Christ like.  We can’t let life in this world devastate how we believe; we need to stay focused on heaven and living a way that pleases the Lord.

In Philippians chapter 2 verse 12 Paul says, “Dear friends, you always followed my instruction when I was with you.  And now that I am away, it is even more important.  Work to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.”

Are you putting in the time to grow and understand what God wants?  When you fill yourself with the wisdom from God you will be able to handle anything that might happen.

Verse 13 says “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and power to do what pleases Him.”

When we seek He will find us, we just need to continue to open our hearts and mind and use what we learn.  Be active and always moving toward the prize, Jesus Christ, and live the way He should us to.  Amen

2 Samuel 14

2 Samuel 14:14 “All of us must die eventually.  Our lives are like water spilled out on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again.  But God does not just sweep life away; instead, He devises ways to bring us back when we have been separated from Him?”

How amazing is that?  It just reminds us that we always do the separating and when we do separate from Him He will always work to get us back.  When we continually open His word and learn from Him it helps in keeping our focus on Him.  Reading is not a job it is a way of life.  We can constantly learn to be like Christ and live a way that is pleasing to God.  When we do it alone satan will use our own selfishness to separate us from God and it doesn’t take much for that to happen.  Fill your heart with wisdom from God everyday and never feel satisfied with what you know, that is when you tend to live for self before God.  God loves us and gave His Son for us; we need to show the same kind of love by working hard to live like Christ who said in Matthew 26:39 “My Father!  If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from Me.  Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

We need to have the same focus and devotion and it happens when we open God’s word everyday and thank Him for everything.  Amen

2 Samuel 12:22-23 David’s first son with Bathsheba gets sick and ends up dying, I really love what David says to his people about it.  In chapter 12 verses 22-23 he says, “I fasted and wept while the child was alive, for I said, ‘Perhaps the Lord will be gracious to me and let the child live.  But why should I fast when he is dead?  Can I bring him back again?  I will go to him one day, but he cannot return to me.”

It really made me think how important it is for us to always be studying God’s word so we can learn and act like Christ.  When we can become fully devoted followers of Christ we will forget our selfish ways and live our life loving God and people.  We will be aware of things around us and we won’t be so consumed with what we desire.  The best part of this is that Jesus died for us so we can accept Him and work hard to turn from our  ways to enjoy eternal life forever with Him.  And as David says, “…I will go to him one day…”  The children are there when they die, are we going to get on the narrow road that leads to life or are we going to hang on to our worldly things that lead to death?

Jesus says in Mark chapter 13 verse 33 “And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard!  Stay alert!”

Let’s be the one’s that find it, always be ready to ask, seek and knock.  Amen
