1 Peter 2

1 Peter 2:15-16 “It is God’s will that your honorable lives
should silence those ignorant people who make foolish accusations against
you.  For you are free, yet you are
God’s slaves, so don’t use your freedom as an excuse to do evil.”

I like this because it is a great reminder for us not to argue
and try to force people to listen.
When the world reacts around us we need to stop and be slow to speak and
let our lives as Christ followers shine, then people will have only themselves
to argue with. The way we live will
speak for us and our human nature will take a back seat.
This only happens when we fill ourselves with the Spirit by joyfully
seeking wisdom from God and making our walk with Him real not just a plug in
need.

Verse 11 says, “Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents
and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your
very souls.”

Do we buy into the fact that we really are not living for this
world; our focus should be a life with Christ eternally.
It is contagious when we truly surrender and follow Christ, our life
doesn’t get easier it gets more challenging.  That is important because most people
like a challenge and it keeps them on their toes.
Challenge keeps us alert and we should always be ready for His
return.  Let’s open our hearts and
say thank you for your sacrifice and please continue to show me your will.  Amen

That waging war against your souls reminded me of something I read by Max Lucado. He said "Without God, all of our work, pleasure, and wisdom are useless. Lasting fulfillment comes from honoring God in all we do." I think he is absolutely right. What do you think?

Dolores, I love that quote! It is so very true, indeed.

Keith, regarding the quote from 1 Peter, amen to that. There are days, usually when my defenses are down, that I cannot live up to the tennents expressed (especially when dealing with an ex..yikes!). Though, I will admit, I get plenty of opportunities to live by them. :)

While I cannot do it on my own, and I definitley do unburden my troubles onto God, it definitely helps my walk to continue to read and discuss here.

Thanks again for this.

That is a great point Dolores, we can seek things all we want but if we are not honoring Him and surrendering our lives we miss out in a lot of peace and joy. Thanks for sharing.
