I liked this as I read it because we are called to be as bold as John the Baptist and never sway with our love for the Lord. Jesus asks these questions in verse 7, “…What kind of man did you go into the wilderness to see? Was he a weak reed, swayed by every breath of wind?”
How important is it for us to learn God’s word and model our lives after Jesus, and then be strong bold Christians that live out their faith. To be bold means to be confident in what you believe in. And to believe in something means you accept it and embrace it to be real. When something is real to us we should do all we can to be that example. A friend shared with me an example about bank teller. He said that the trainees are paid to count money so much that they are familiar with what real money feels like, this is so they can tell a fake the instance they feel it. We need to get so familiar with God’s word and how Jesus lived that we can discern from truth or lies. We should commit to understand all God shows us and always be ready for more. Our walk will be attacked daily by the world and satan, what will keep us grounded and secure if you don’t really know Him. Our strength comes from Jesus and we have confidence when we know that and trust in that.
Ephesians 3:12 says, “Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.” So when we read in the last part of Matthew chapter 11 verse 8 “…and violent people are attacking it.” Know that our protection is God’s word and prayer and the Holy Spirit is in us to guide us and help us be bold in the name of Jesus. Amen
