This is what Peter references in Acts chapter 2 verse 25 and it is great for us to remember. We are not left alone to find our own way; we have been given everything we need to be fully devoted followers of Christ. Are we willing to seek all that we can so we can go into the world and make disciples? Jesus says in Acts chapter 1 verse 8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We have heard the Good News and we must share that news with people all over.
Our purpose as believers is to learn and teach and live out our life like Christ did; glorifying the Father. This takes us choosing to make a difference and learning all we can. In chapter 1 verse 14 it says, “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer…” Constantly is such an important word to remember as we learn and transform into new creations.
Being in God’s word and praying constantly helps us create habits and develop disciplines that help us die to self and focus on the Spirit leading us not us doing what we desire. Not only should our lives change but we should also be sharing and living a way that people want to change also. Our walk is never just for us, it is for others so when we are constantly in prayer and we are learning we can realize the Lord is always with us and we can truly feel peace in our hearts.
I have been reading the book “Game Plan for Life” by Joe Gibbs and there is a quote by Josh McDowell which says, “If you ask Him to take control of your life, just watch how your attitudes and actions will change because Jesus – the one who is at the center of everything in the Bible – is in the business of forgiving sin, removing guilt, changing people from the inside out, and healing relationships.” We need to surrender and let ourselves follow the one who has given so much by sending His Son. Amen
