Titus 2

Titus 2:11-15 “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.  And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures.  We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.  He gave His life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us His very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.  You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them.  You have the authority to correct them when necessary, so don’t let anyone disregard what you say.”

We must be believers willing to change and understand that we need to look at Christ and live as He did.  We just can’t believe who He is and say thanks; we need to show our belief by living it out.  We get too caught up in the comfort of the story of Jesus; we think just by acknowledging that we are good to go.  But Jesus asks us to be new creations and different.  He says, “…go and sin no more.”  We must be in awe of what He did and see how worthy it is for us to live our lives working on obedience and showing our love for Him by changing our heart.

Romans 2:28-29 says it best; “For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision.  No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God.  And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit.  And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God not from people.”

When this happens we live to please Him not ourselves and we can go out and be a light teaching people to be like Christ.  Amen

Keith, this does make me wonder. The morals of this country seem to be going down hill, yet we see churches on every corner. Marriage is going out the window, people killing their kids and their spouses and other people. Crime running rampant. What is wrong, are we Christians falling down on the job God wants us to do? Are we reading the bible and really trying to be more and more like Jesus or are we big fakes?

..."And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God not from people.”

I love this statement. As believers (people trying to share God's great message and loving others into HIS kingdom), should we not be more concerned with pleasing the Father, by allowing Him full and complete access in our worship through the power of the Holy Spirit - to draw others into the fold, as opposed to our own fleshly attempts. Or even worse, by utilizing the same methods and techniques of the world?

I'd much rather be a people who are more careful not to offend the Holy Spirit, as opposed to being so consumed with pleasing man. The Holy Spirit is gentle and kind - we should trust in Him more to do this kind of work.

He created us - He calls us - He knows us - He knows what He's doing! We just need to ALLOW Him to!

Power comes when The Holy Spirit is welcomed, when HE is put in charge. God's power is life changing and what actually increases the numbers in heaven.

It is nothing we create, no matter how hard we try, how much we do, how much we spend or who's running it - and definitely no matter how godly it may appear. WE ALL MUST LIVE TO PLEASE AND SEEK OUR PRAISE FROM OUR HEAVENLY FATHER.

Response to Dolores:

Remember my dear, in the Word it says that satan will be the ruler of this age. As believers we know these are the last days because of this. Could Christians do a better job? Maybe..there's always room for improvement, right?

However, it also says in the Word that the 'road is narrow' and as we've discussed before, that would have to mean for Christians too. Anyone (and most people who say they 'believe' in God) can claim to be a Christian but that doesn't make it true. God knows our hearts, He knows His children.

I will stand on the belief that Christians can be top of their game and that will not change a sinful world or the free will. There will still be pain and heartache, despite our efforts.

As I shared with a friend last night, unfortunately, because of free will, we are also the reciprocants of evil and sin. When others sin, we pay for it many times. But as Christians (being Christ-like) - isn't that exactly what He had to do, for all of us? Be the reciprocant of our sins.

It doesn't necessarily mean anyone is slacking or fake, (although there is that too) - but that this world in general is evil and until we allow more of the HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS POWER to take over - we are in for QUITE the hall, yes? But never one Our God cannot overcome! He reigns! YEH GOD!

I know you are a prayer partner with me on that one - keep prayin' sis! ; )

Dolores, I truly feel that we are to comfortable in America. I mean it is so easy to get church and hear the message but it is put out there in mass production trying not to offend. To make a difference it takes the truth given with challenge constantly, and also it takes us forgetting what pleases us to make sure we are living a life that focuses on Christ. In Hebrews chapter 3 verse 13 it says "You must warn each other every day, while it is still today, so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God." We are to busy for that and we as so called believers do think we need to worry because we are good just saying a prayer and doing the basics. Thanks Dolores for always sharing. Peace

Keith and Dee
I hope your take on this is right, but sometimes I wonder if God is not looking down and saying "I have given you over 6,000 years just to learn to love Me and love your neighbor and I don't see it happening."

Let's keep trying, we know God loves us so let's keep reading His word and learn how to love as He does.
